X-Rays and Ultrasounds for Animals

Perrysburg Animal Hospital also offers radiology and ultrasounds for pets, a service that many other practices do not offer. If you notice your pet isn't feeling well but unsure of the cause, schedule an appointment with us. Our veterinarian will do a physical examination to see if there are any visual signs of illness.

However, if this is not, we may recommend X-rays or an ultrasound to pinpoint the issue. To schedule your appointment, call Perrysburg Animal Hospital today. Same-day emergency services are available.

What Can a Veterinarian Discover with an X-Ray or Ultrasound?

X-rays can examine the hard structures in your pet's body and can be used to diagnose such problems as a broken bone or dislocated joint. X-rays can also identify some genetic diseases such as hip dysplasia or diagnosing blockages within the stomach or intestines, as well as growths and tumors. Additionally, we use X-rays to determine the number of babies an animal is pregnant with.

For soft tissues and organs, an ultrasound is usually recommended. This uses pulsating waves to generate an image of the body's soft tissues. It is used to examine organs such as the kidneys, heart, liver or lungs. What's more, the ultrasound images can be interpreted in real-time.

Radiology for Animals

X-rays and ultrasounds are non-invasive procedures that do not involve your pet spending much time with us, so your pet can go home the same day. Our ultrasound machine uses soundwaves to take images of your pet's organs and other body parts for a clear view of their condition and a specific diagnosis.

We will be happy to discuss the results of your pet's radiology testing following the procedure and answer any questions you may have.

At Perrysburg Animal Hospital, our goal is to help your pet live the healthiest life possible. We offer a community-oriented approach to pet care that focuses on treating you and your cat or dog like our family.
