All About Laser Therapy for Pets

Pet laser therapy is another way to keep your pet healthy and happy. It's a non-invasive therapy similar to massage or acupuncture. It's an alternative therapy generally used to repair animal tissue damaged due to injuries or surgery.

Perrysburg Animal Hospital offers many unique services that other vets in the area do not or cannot offer. To learn more, feel free to call us at (419) 874-8974.

Benefits of Pet Laser Therapy

  • Healing surgical wounds
  • Healing traumatic wounds
  • Improvement of nerve regeneration and function
  • Increasing the healing time of infections
  • Lowering the chances of the appearance of scar tissue
  • Painful trigger points released

Conditions That Can Be Helped by Laser Therapy

  • Chronic arthritis
  • Ligament and tendon injuries
  • Surgical cuts
  • Traumatic injuries

Laser therapy can also be used on animals with conditions that do not have many treatment options. For example, cats with limited choices of medication or older pets with organ troubles.

What to Expect During a Laser Therapy Session

Our laser therapy sessions only last 5-10 minutes each and we will make sure your pet is comfortable throughout their visit. The laser itself is a handheld wand that is moved over the damaged area slowly to give the entire area of the body adequate treatment. Your pet may even enjoy the warm sensation it provides.

We assure you that laser therapy is a very safe healing treatment for your pet. To keep the laser away from the eyes, both our veterinary staff and your pet wear goggles throughout the treatment.

Schedule an appointment at Perrysburg Animal Hospital today to determine if laser therapy is right for your pet. Our vet will perform a physical and/or other tests to see if your pet has any tissue damage and is a candidate for laser therapy.
